Prior to practicing law, Joni had 15+ years of Software Engineering experience. As a patent attorney, she has 20+ years of patent portfolio management, patent preparation and prosecution, client counseling, and general intellectual property practice.
Prior to joining the CSW, Joni managed a patent portfolio with 4000 worldwide assets related to augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), wearables and IoT usages, autonomous cars, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), drones, perceptual computing, GUIs, user experience, consumer electronics, and location-based services, at a Fortune 100 company. As In-house Corporate Patent Counsel, she managed several projects impacting Division policies and procedures, including developing a corporate strategy for global claim optimization and acceleration of patent prosecution. This effort included leading a team to develop templates and guidelines, and training of outside and in-house patent counsel. Joni also prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a wide variety of software arts from firmware to application level, and networking to e-commerce.
