Palash Basu is an intellectual property (IP) lawyer with over a decade of experience representing renowned corporations, top universities, and pioneering technology startups. He counsels clients on developing global patent portfolios and IP strategies across electrical, mechanical, medical device, and software technologies. As a registered patent lawyer, Palash guides clients through the full-cycle of patent asset development from landscape studies, invention harvesting, claiming strategy, preparing patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions, preparing and prosecuting applications for U.S. and international markets, and appeals to issuance and filing of continuation and divisional applications. Palash brings additional experience in the areas of IP transactions, technology transfer, open source software licensing, data privacy, and AI governance.
Palash works closely with clients to procure high-value patents based on product roadmaps and develop offensive and defensive patenting strategies. He handles a wide variety of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms, bioinformatics, medical devices, robotics, internet-of-things (IoT) devices, autonomous vehicles, aviation technology, electronic circuits and packaging, semiconductor device fabrication, display technology, 3D printing, telecommunications, networking, optics, and industrial equipment.
Palash is a licensed professional engineer and worked as a senior electronic systems engineer in the aerospace industry prior to law school. He leverages this technical expertise to provide clients with tailored advice for developing, managing, and protecting rights to their technology.
