Cary W. Brooks has extensive experience in both prosecution and litigation of intellectual property matters. Mr. Brooks was a shareholder in a midsize law firm prior to starting the BrooksGroup. He also worked for 16 years as a patent attorney for General Motors Corporation where his responsibilities included patent preparation and prosecution, infringement opinions, licensing, acquisitions and divestitures, and major litigation. He served as an instructor for four and a half years in a nationally renowned seminar teaching his peers techniques and strategies for crafting and drafting winning patents. Mr. Brooks was voted by his peers as one of the top lawyers in intellectual property law in the Metro Detroit Area and one of the Best Lawyers in America for numerous years.
Mr. Brooks’ experience includes autonomous vehicle software and systems, engine powertrain systems, engine breathing systems, turbo chargers, friction materials, fuel cell systems including reformation and purification equipment, semiconductor devices and processes of making the same including packaging and handling chips, printed circuit boards, tape automated bonding and flexible circuitry, thick film circuits and compositions, wire bonding, etching, film deposition and ion implantation techniques, gold dot micro-connections, ceramics, electrical connectors and electrical distribution systems, electrorheological and magnetorheological fluids, cubic boron nitride and indium arsenide films, jet engine turbine blades and component manufacture, automotive exhaust systems and convertors and oxygen sensors, lithium ion batteries, metallurgical systems, software, chemiluminescent and fluorescent reagents and diagnostic techniques, monoclonal and polyclonal antibody techniques, cytotoxicity assays, immunodiagonstic reagents and kits, immunostimulants, pharmaceuticals, medical instruments, adhesives, organic and inorganic coatings, paints, and machines and mechanical devices. Mr. Brooks’ professional experience also includes positions as patent counsel at BASF Corporation’s Coating and Inks Division and Chemical Division. Mr. Brooks also was an associate with Barnes, Kisselle, Raisch, Choate, Whittemore & Hulbert, and a member/partner with Reising Ethington.
