Mr. Zigouris assists and counsels clients in the procurement of U.S. and foreign patents, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the electrical and mechanical fields. James also focuses on other areas of intellectual property law, including copyright, trademark, and technology transfer matters.
Prior to attending law school, James worked as an automotive engineer specializing in quality control. As an engineer, he worked closely with OEMs and suppliers to ensure quality objectives were met and quality control measures were implemented. After law school James worked as a medical device patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. As a patent examiner, he worked on inventions ranging from orthopedic prosthetics to surgical instruments. Prior to joining the firm, James worked as patent counsel for an international medical device company. As patent counsel he obtained IP protection for various technologies concerning medical physics.
